Jamaican Twist BAND LAUNCH 2016 – Coverage by ILoveCarnivall
Soca is blasting at the Royal Festival Hall at London South Bank Riverside. Costumes are on display. Carnival has come to the heart of London, England. And I have the biggest, most ridiculous smile on my face. I can’t help it.
Until Thursday night just gone, I had never heard of the Jamaican Twist Mas Band. Don’t get me wrong, I knew there was a Jamaican band in Notting Hill Carnival but that was the extent of my knowledge. Please do not think Jamaica is not involved in soca and carnival in any way, shape or form. Yes, Bob Marley and Reggae music will forever remain the legacy and heart of Jamaica and its people. However, it looks like soca has made its way to the land of the high grade and jerk seasoning. There is a good carnival around Easter time in Jamaica which is growing considerably; so much so that international soca artists such as Machel, Kes, Bunji and Fay-Ann attend and perform at the carnival in Jamaica.
