There’s something about the sound of the steel pan. You know what I mean right? It’s the one musical instrument that can go down deep into my soul and bring out ‘happy’. I walked into the Ebony Steelband practice session at the Yaa Centre and that is exactly what happened. I hear the pan and I’m happy. It’s a friday night. And whilst the rest of us might be relaxing or getting ready to go out to fete, these lovers of the steelpan are practising and practising and practising.
